Vacation to California!

Last weekend we left for California for a 7-day vacation and this is what we did!
On Saturday we went to the San Diego Zoo, and Isaac loved seeing all the animals!

This lion was looking very bored until a huge black dog came by with his owner, and the lion perked right up, and looked like she was ready to pounce!  It was great because she came right up to the fence where we were standing and was looking intently at that dog!

Isaac watched these two snakes cuddling for a long time.  He really likes snakes!  We also saw one in the wild at Valley of Fire later on in our trip.

We really lucked-out with the Elephants because the zoo keeper was feeding them right next to the fence so we had a great closeup view of these two eating.

Isaac watched these swimming turtles for a long time! There were so many of them.

On Monday we went to Legoland in Carlsbad California.  It had rides geared toward small children, and nearly everything was made out of Legos!

They called this sections Miniland USA, and had several popular cities made out of legos!

This Sea Life Museum was inside Legoland, and had a giant aquarium inside it with several sharks and other awesome fish.  They even had a diver come down and do a presentation for us in the water.

On Tuesday we drove to L.A. to see the California Science Museum, and Air & Space museum.  Isaac loved pushing the buttons for the exhibits, and playing with fake food in the kitchen of the Discovery Room for kids.

On Wednesday we drove to the Hollywood area and visited the shops and restaraunts in Chinatown. Then we visited Griffith Park and ate lunch, and circled around to the Griffith Observatory where we could see an excellent view of the L.A. skyline & Hollywood sign, and saw some star exhibits inside.

On Thursday we stopped in San Pedro at the beach and then visited the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium.

Isaac was afraid of the waves but intrigued at the same time.  He kept coming down to see them and then running away.

I had to keep a close eye on Baby Jane as she was contentedly eating sand and seaweed! yuck!

The Cabrillo Marine aquarium wasn't as cool as the Sea Life at Legoland, but they did have some neat creatures.

This crab was nearly the size of Isaac!  I had a picture of him pointing to it, but of course it didn't turn out.

Our last stop was Valley of Fire just outside of Las Vegas where we climbed around the red rock for a few hours.  Isaac absolutely loved the freedom! He just climbed away, and never looked back to see if anyone was behind him, or how he would get back down.

Isaac trying to get away so he can climb higher!

We had a blast! It was a much needed vacation, and we actually had fun with kids! ;)
